"Invest in Africa Build Africa - 2008"

Following our very successful Kenyan Property Exhibition held in London in July 2007, we are excited to invite you to this year’s Conference and Exhibition. As promised last year, this year’s exhibition will be even BIGGER AND BETTER!

The 2007 Exhibition was the first-ever Kenyan Property Exhibition to be held in London and it was a huge success. We brought 15 exhibitors from Kenya and over 600 investors from the Diaspora attended the event.

This year we expect to double these numbers and make a bigger impact in promoting Africa as an attractive investment destination. The growing importance of the Diaspora is now undeniable. With remittances from Africans working abroad (averaging about US$17 billion per annum in 2000-2003) virtually overtaking Foreign Direct Investment flows which averaged about $15 billion per annum during the same period, it will not be long before remittances from Africans exceeds Aid from donors! The strong growth in remittances helps stabilise the exchange rates and provides a source of investment funds directly to individual African families.

Our key aim remains to continue positioning Africa firmly as an investment destination Africans in the Diaspora as well as to international investors. The 2008 Exhibition will continue to focus on its key role of linking exhibitors from Africa with Investors in the Diaspora. This year’s conference has the twin-theme – INVEST IN AFRICA; BUILD AFRICA:

• INVEST IN AFRICA – This theme is about attracting investment into our financial markets. We will be seeking to promote investment in African Stock Exchanges, African banks, investment management, insurance, pensions and other financial services. We are inviting stockbrokers, investment advisers, fund managers, bankers, insurers, pension funds and other major players in the financial services market.

• BUILD AFRICA – This theme is about attracting investment into our real estate. Construction and property investment have been major vehicles that the Diaspora has used to invest in Africa. We are inviting developers, mortgage providers, real estate agents, property managers, professional institutions and other major players in the built environment to participate. 

DON’T MISS THE AFRICAN INVESTMENT EVENT OF THE YEAR

Exhibitors from last year were overwhelmed by the interest shown by the Diaspora. The aim of the exhibition is not about making a quick sale or deal but an opportunity to promote Africa as an attractive investment market. It is also an opportunity for both the public and the private sector to demonstrate recent economic growth and state the case for increased investor confidence in African Markets.

We will be informing and educating the Diaspora about investing in Africa and how to go about it. We are also interested in showcasing low cost housing schemes.
